What You’ll Learn:

  • Ohio Ant Taxonomy: Deepen your understanding of ant species native to Ohio.
  • Ant Ecology and Conservation: Discover the crucial roles ants play in our ecosystems and learn about conservation strategies.
  • Invasive Ant Species: Learn about invasive ant species in the USA and Ohio from expert Andrea Lucky, University of Florida.
  • Citizen Science: Learn about the importance of iNaturalist to society with a special session led by Corey Callaghan, University of Florida. 
  • Ant Husbandry: Learn how to build an ant nest box so that you can display and observe live colonies from expert Randy Morgan, Emeritus Curator, Cincinnati Zoo.

Getting Here:

The Museum of Biological Diversity, MBD, is located at 1315 Kinnear Road. It is on Ohio State's west campus, between Rt 33 and Rt 315. There is parking out front, but you will need a permit—please request this option when you register. If you don't, you will be responsible for paying for parking! Parking details can be found here. 

There are many food options nearby—Kroger and Whole Foods markets, fast food, and great local spots for meals (Brassica, Chocolate Cafe, Aab India, Tai's Asian Bistro).
