Taxonomic research is crucial for the early detection of invasive species and the rapid development and deployment of effective biological control programs. The publication by Talamas, Johnson & Buffington provides a clear example of the importance of previous long-term, carefully produced taxonomic studies for the production of specific tools for identification and for futher research.
