Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Suggestions for a Successful Design

These are suggestions, not requirements. Following some or all of these suggestions does not guarantee success.

  1. Incorporate some or all of the following pieces of text into the design in an interesting way:
    1. Museum of Biological Diversity
    2. Open House
    3. 2017
    4. Web of Life
  2. Represent all seven of the museum collections in the design. The collections are:
    1. Acarology (mites and ticks)
    2. Borror Lab of Bioacoustics (animal sounds)
    3. C. A. Triplehorn Insect Collection (insects)
    4. Fishes
    5. Herbarium (plants)
    6. Molluscs (clams, snails, etc.)
    7. Tetrapods (mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians).
  3. Make thoughtful choices regarding colors. The limited palette of the design (5 colors maximum) means that your color decisions should work well together and contribute to the overall design.
  4. Keep in mind that intricate designs may not print well in silk-screen.
